what we believe

1. The Holy Scriptures

We believe the entire Holy Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.  All Scripture centers around Jesus Christ.  He reveals Himself through His Word, the Bible.

2. The Godhead

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and these three are one God, having the same nature.

3. The Lord Jesus Christ

We believe in the pre-existence, incarnation, and virgin birth of Jesus Christ.  We believe in Jesus's sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension as Lord of heaven and earth, who will come again in triumph to reign.  We believe that Jesus Christ is very God and very man, that He is the "I Am" (Yahweh) of the Old Testament.

4. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, omnipresent from all eternity, dwells in all believers of Jesus Christ, regenerating and sealing them.  He fills the believers who are yielded to Him and to His will for power and service.

The fruit of the Spirit manifests the character of Christ in us, and the gifts of the  Spirit must operate for the Church to show her full glory under Christ's rule.

5. Creation of the World and Man

God created the world from nothing and made man (mankind) in His image by a direct and immediate act.

6. Man's Fall

Mankind, by willful sin, fell from a state of righteousness into total spiritual depravity, unable to become right with God by his own efforts.

7. Salvation only through Jesus Christ

Because of Jesus' death and resurrection, each person  can receive forgiveness for his or her sins, be reborn, have eternal life, and enjoy a right relationship with God only through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

8. Baptisms

Water baptism by immersion is for believers only, for in baptism, the believer is buried with Christ and raised to newness of life.  There is a second baptism, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  This is the first physical evidence of  the infilling by the Spirit.

9. Communion

Communion is also known as the Lord's Supper.  This is the ongoing New Covenant meal in which we participate in remembering the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and the  Blood of Jesus Christ shed for mankind's sins.

10. The Sacraments

We celebrate the sacraments of  Water baptism and Communion.

11. Marriage

We believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime, being a sacred institution established by God.

12. The Believer's walk

Trusting God's keeping power, we are able to walk in the Holy Spirit, not in the flesh, with our hearts made righteous and our minds renewed, building upon a foundation of Biblical truth and experience.

13. Divine Healing

Healing for the whole person is available through the suffering and atoning death of Jesus Christ.

14. The Church

All who are united to Christ Jesus through the new birth experience are members of the Church, the Body of Christ.  Local congregations of believers are the chosen instruments of God for the furtherance of His work on earth to reach others for Christ and to minister to their needs.

15. Ministers of the Church

God equips the Church through the five-fold ministry of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers.  Along with this, all believers are to represent Christ in the ministry of reconciliation.

16. Relationship

Mankind's purpose on earth is to love God whole-heartedly ad to enjoy His presence in their lives forever!  Additionally, we are called to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.  As members of the Body of Christ, we are also in loving relationship with each other.

17. Worship

True worshipers will worship God the Father in Spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and in truth.

18. Restoration and the Eternal State

All that was lost by the fall of man is now being restored by the Lord Jesus Christ.  The spirits and souls of those who have trusted Christ, at the time of their death, pass immediately into His presence until the resurrection of their bodies at His return.  Unbelievers, however, remain conscious of condemnation until the final judgement, where everyone will stand before the Lord and give an account for their actions while on earth.
